How does Acupuncture work for Other Diseases & Conditions

Although acupuncture’s mechanism of action of is not fully clear, treatment has been shown to increase circulation and reduce inflammation and stress. Many chronic inflammatory conditions can have potential for improvement with acupuncture. By influencing endorphin levels in the brain, acupuncture can improve blood flow and energy and modulate the immune system. Acupuncture has been observed to speed up wound healing and reduce some symptoms. Improved blood flow optimizes the necessary oxygen and nutrients needed by every cell and takes out the metabolic “trash.” This helps improve the overall function of the body and can help increase energy.

A significant component of many chronic diseases is a compromised immune system. Chinese medicine has long been known to improve “Wei Qi” or the body’s defense system. The effects of Chinese medicine can be seen by an accelerated healing process, and reduction of inflammation, excess phlegm and other symptoms. Acupuncture can help increase interferon levels in the body. By moderating endorphin levels in the brain, acupuncture can improve blood flow and energy.

Acupuncture is well recognized for reducing stress and relieving an overactive parasympathetic system (fight or flight response). Stress is well known to negatively impact our health. Stress reduction can be a significant factor in reaching all health goals.
